This the photo of the ranch I stayed at in Hamilton. The large building in the background used to house 4000 chicken that supplied eggs to this region:
This is Tom who has come back to the "family" ranch to recover after having both hips replaced.
It is still hazy with smoke with pockets of snow in the mountains:
I loved this play on words:
I had a good lunch at the Blue Joint in Darby:
Beautiful entrance way to a ranch:
Trouble coming:
Stopped to take on water in Sula (pop 50). As I was taking off it started to rain with lightening so I returned to take cover:
This is 14 year old Sam from Seneca Ohio who is also traveling eastbound with his grandfather. He came out to talk to me as the rain continued:
After and hour plus waiting for the rain to stop (it didn't) I decided to spend the night at the Sula Cabins. They were very comfortable and $45.
So I only did 33 miles today and will try to make it up tomorrow but there are 3 passes to make in order to get to Dillon MT and make 100 miles.
The Usual Disclaimer:
And finally please remember the cause - soldiersbestfriend.org I will go into this in more detail and perhaps some level of haranguing later on, but for now here is the link .... and an additional link for donation SoldiersBestFriend - Donate Please :):) Oh and I would be a lot more comfortable if you use the "honorarium" option vs the "memoriam" option - you'll understand when you click on the link:):).
As you donate please enter my name in the "In Honor of Spot" so the folks at SBF can tally the results to encourage me and let me know WE are getting something done TOGETHER. I recognize we are really trying to honor the Vets but this is the only way SBF can tally the results of this drive (tour).
I will be inserting this call-to-action in all of my blogs so I hope you don't mind.
